Students spend 90 minutes a day working on language arts,  30minute whole group, plus 3, 20 minute stations that consist of small group activities, literacy projects or interventions, meeting at the table to have guided reading with Mrs. Borgan and an independent work time at your desk.

December We are reading about Martin Luther King this week.  We are discussing author's purpose and genre at all times.  We are hitting verbs very hard as well. 

November & December Book Project is the cereal box jacket.  It is due Friday Wednesday December 21st.

January We are starting our 4th unit!

We will be reading historical fiction and nonfiction this month.  Our book project will be the book jacket that goes along with their AR historical fiction or nonfiction book.  It is due February 26th and is worth 25 points!!!!

This month we are talking about drawing conclusions.  

We are studying pronouns and subject verb agreement.   
February We are studying United States Presidents and famous African Americans. 

We are also reading about alternative forms of energy in Unit 4 lesson 2.  The students are going to be able to able to pick from 5 alternative sources of energy and persuade their audience into trying this alternate form of energy.  We are practicing understanding and obtaining information from nonfiction reading and forming opinions of what we are reading.  We will be doing some what of a webquest.

March We are working on our relationships unit.  We are reading different versions of the Frog Prince.  We are then creating our own plays and will be acting them out for a younger audience! 

Our book project this month is to read Our book project for March and April is to read a biography AR book and do the biography file folder book project.  These are due April 15th and will be worth 50 points!!!

April Our book project this month is to do the poetry book.  These are due May 15th. We are studying adverbs and the theme in stories  
May Our last book project is due Friday May 21st.  It is the sandwich project.  We will do this project over Where the Red Fern Grows
